Revealing the Headphone and Car-Kit menus

Please note that if you do these next tricks, the new menus can't be erased without retoring the factory default settings. To do these tricks you need to short-circuit the pins on the bottom of the phone next to where you plug in you charger.

1. To activate the "Headset" menu, you need to short-circuit pins "3" and "4". After a short time the word "Headset" will be shown in the display. Menu 3-6 is now enabled.

2. To activate the "Car" menu, you need to short-circuit pins "4" and "5". After a short time the word "Car" will be shown in the display. Menu 3-7 is now enabled.

THE REBOOT TRICK

This should work on all software versions of the 6110.

1. Go to the Calendar (Menu-8)

2. Make a note or reminder.

3. Enter some text into the edit box.

4. Hold "Clear" until the whole text is cleared, then press "Back".

5. Press "0". The main screen will now be showing but a space appears on the screen. (you can't see it)

6. Enter 4 digits (e.g. 1234).

7. Use the down arrow to move the cursor to the left side of the numbers and the space (Down arrow twice).

8. Now enter 6 digits and press the call button.

Wait for a few seconds, the screen should start to flash and reboots. It should alsowork on other menus like the "Profiles" menu.

EFR CALL QUALITY

To activate EFR (Enhanced Full Rate) Enter the code-

*3370#

This improves call quality but decreases batterylife by about 5%

To deactivate it, Enter the code-

#3370#

THE JAMES BOND TRICK

If you short-circuit theleft middle and right pins on the bottom of the phone with all connections touching each other, the Nokia software hangs! The profile "Headset" will be activated. Before you do this just activate the "Automatic Answer" in the headset profile and set the ringing volume to "Mute". Now you can use your phone for checking out what people are talking about in a room.
Just place it under a table in a room and call it. The phone receives the call without ringing and you can listen to what people are saying.

NETWORK MONITOR

There is a hidden menu inside your Nokia phone. If you want to activate it, you'll have to re-program some chips inside of your phone.

Check your software version. You can only continue if you have v4.33, v4.73 or v5.24.

Take apart the phone.

De-solder the EEPROM (ATMEL AT 24C64).

Read out the data with an EEPROM programmer and save it to a file (Backup).

If you have v.33 or v4.73, change the address "03B8" from "00" to "FF".

If you have v5.24 then change the address "0378" from "00" to "FF".

Write the new data to the EEPROM and solder it back to the phone,

Power on your phone and you should have "Netmonitor" enabled.

The Network Monitor gives you the following information.

Carrier number

MS RX Level in DBM

Received signal quality

MS TX power level

C1 (Path loss criterion, used for cell selection and reselection). The range is -99 to 99.

RTL (Radio link timeout).

Timeslot

Indication of the transmitter status

Information on the Network parameters.

TMSI (Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity).

Cell identification (Cell ID, Number of cells being used).

MCC (Mobile country code)

MCN (Mobile network code)

LAC (Location area code)

Ciphering (On/Off)

Hopping (On/Off)

DTX (On/Off)

Discard cell barred information

CHECK SIM-LOCK

Note - If you bought your Nokia on UK Vodafone or UK Cellnet you do not need to check this because they both transmit on GSM900, and they don't lock the phones. However if you bought your phone on UK Orange or UK One2one your phone may be blocked. The reason is that they both transmitt on GSM1800. To make a call on GSM1800 you need what is known as a "Dual band" phone. A dual band phone is able to transmit on both GSM900 and GSM1800, so they lock the phones so you can't use it with any other network simcard. If you find that your phone is locked you can try different software to unlock it. (we havn't found one that works yet), or you can ask your service provider who will gladly exchange the 10 digit code for about £35.

This is how to check the status of the 4 different locks. Aslo don't try entering the wrong number, because after 3 times it will block the phone for good.

There are 4 different locks on your Nokia phone.

COUNTRY-LOCK

NETWORK-LOCK

PROVIDER-LOCK

SIMCARD-LOCK

The code to read out the sim-lock status of your phone is

#PW+(MASTERCODE)+(Y)#

# = DOUBLE-CROSS

W = PRESS "*" THREE TIMES

P = PRESS "*" FOUR TIMES

+ = PRESS "*" TWO TIMES

MASTERCODE = 1234567890

Y = NUMBER 1 TO 4

The master code is a secret code. The code has 10 digits, To read out the sim-lock status you can enter every combination you want!

"Y" Shows the status of the network-lock. Here you can enter a number from "1" to "4". The "4" is for the sim-card lock.

SIM-LOCK CHECKS

#PW+1234567890+1# = GIVES PROVIDER-LOCK STATUS

#PW+1234567890+2# = GIVES NETWORK-LOCK STATUS

#PW+1234567890+3# = GIVES COUNTRY-LOCK STATUS

#PW+1234567890+4# = GIVES SIM-CARD-LOCK STATUS.

Search Engine Friendly Pages... and a few Tips...

There is no point in building a website unless there are visitors coming in. A major source of traffic for most sites on the Internet is search engines like Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Altavista and so on. Hence, by designing a search engine friendly site, you will be able to rank easily in search engines and obtain more visitors.

Major search engines use programs called crawlers or robots to index websites to list on their search result pages. They follow links to a page, reads the content of the page and record it in their own database, pulling up the listing as people search for it.

If you want to make your site indexed easily, you should avoid using frames on your website. Frames will only confuse search engine robots and they might even abandon your site because of that. Moreover, frames make it difficult for users to bookmark a specific page on your site without using long, complicated scripts.

Do not present important information in Flash movies or in images. Search engine robots can only read text on your source code so if you present important words in Flash movies and images rather than textual form, your search engine ranking will be affected dramatically.

Use meta tags accordingly on each and every page of your site so that search engine robots know at first glance what that particular page is about and whether or not to index it. By using meta tags, you are making the search engine robot's job easier so they will crawl and index your site more frequently.

Stop using wrong HTML tags like to style your page. Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead because they are more effective and efficient. By using CSS, you can eliminate redundant HTML tags and make your pages much lighter and faster to load.

India Vs China- Business Process outsourcing

There is no doubt that India in last few decades has invested on its skilled man power pool and has become a hub of IT. From 1990, India is a center for the BPO as a next IT step. Today, India is the hub for process outsourcing, having the clients from countries like US and UK. China, is also rapidly gaining popularity on other hand India has very minute edge over China India has more people speaking the English language than the US and UK combined and there it makes a difference because English is the language which covers and being spoken in most of the countries.

Talking about the comparison of two countries in BPO industry, the name which comes to everyone’s mind are India and China. Though these two countries are the flashing names in this industry but when it comes to comparison then India is definitely ahead with few points. The few points can be summoned up as:-

In the year 2006 the size of IT service industries in India was around $ 30 billion whereas when it comes to china their size was approx. $12 billion.

In the education rate as well it is estimated that in the next two years china colleges will graduate around 200000 IT professionals annually whereas when it comes to India, they produces around 30000 engineers and 100000 IT professionals annually and not only that India has institutes mushrooming up in metros and towns grooming out quality BPO work force. These institutes provide the efficient and effective knowledge of BPO.

Apart from all these facts and figures India is having more advanced business skills as compared to China as they have got the limited experience serving western IT clients and India has better business skills and a decade of experience serving Western IT services clients (still working on the areas of improvement).

The other important area where china is lacking is the customers/ clients. China is dealing only with Japan whereas India is dealing with the countries like US and Europe.

Talking in terms of Global reach in India local players have set up shop in the U.S., Latin America, Eastern Europe, and China, whereas in china they have made little expansion outside of China, except through acquisition or merger.

One point where both the countries are having equilibrium is the Technology Infrastructure. Both the countries are having top-notch IT infrastructure within technology parks and on major IT offshore software development.

Google Adwords – Is Your Online Marketing Profitable?

You’ve probably heard talk of not spending more than the click is worth. But that is only part of the profitability equation.

By all means keep on tracking the profitability of your Google Ad campaign. But when that’s under control, you should start to compare it with all the other ways you get website visitors or online customers.

Don’t lose sight of the fact that what you are after is paying customers, not just website browsers!

I recently lost a new customer after only one month. I took over a campaign that they had been running themselves, and the first thing I did was to implement conversion tracking. I gave them a detailed report of what it was costing to acquire each customer at the end of my first month.

This showed them that that it was costing more than twice as much to get a customer via Google Ads, than via natural search listings. So they stopped the Ad campaign – not great for me, but it was the right thing for them to do.

Make sure you are not wasting your money, by measuring and comparing everything:

- How profitable is each keyword or family of related keyword phrases?
- How profitable is each of your text Ads?
- How profitable is each page on your website where your visitors land?

Some keywords may be more profitable in a Google Ad campaign than in natural searches and vice versa. The lifetime value of customers who receive your newsletter may be higher than that of customers who respond to a Google Ad – or vice versa.

You can do a lot with Google’s conversion tracking tools on your AdWords campaign.

But if you really want to find out the detail of what browsers do when they get to your website – how long do they stay on a particular page or the site; what page do they leave from; does one version of a sales page work better than another; etc – you will need to use a good web analytics package.

There are several available, including Google Analytics which has the advantage of being free and fully integrated with Google AdWords.

So measure everything and compare the performance of each of your online channels. Remember that you can’t look at one aspect of marketing your business in isolation and expect to get meaningful information
